ABA Checksum Validation
Every ABA routing number includes a built-in check digit (the 9th digit) that allows banks to detect transcription errors automatically. The checksum uses a weighted formula: multiply each digit by 3, 7, 1, 3, 7, 1, 3, 7, 1 and the sum must be divisible by 10.
